In 1888, Richard Thicke, amateur stevedore and pugilist about town, and Thomas "Vaney" Vanesworthy III, wordsmith and bon vivant, joined forces and also started a publishing company, Thicke & Vaney Books. Their goal was to print the finest literary works in all the land. They failed miserably. But over the last century and a half, Thicke & Vaney Books have published many a ripping yarn. In 2016, Thicke and Vanesworthy moved themselves and their business to Saint Paul, Minnesota to escape the nasty weather of London. They failed miserably.
